Course Presentation
The Foundation Course (FC) in Economics and Management offered by the School of Economics and Management (SEM) is a one year, multidisciplinary, pre-university course, fully taught in English. It is intended for international students who:
- Have obtained a high school diploma that allows them to study at university in the country that issued it. The precise identification of whether a particular type of qualification meets this requirement depends on the type of high school diploma and on the country that issued it. Please refer to the guidelines that the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) publishes every year (in early Spring) and which are valid for the upcoming academic year.
- Wish to enroll in an English taught bachelor course of the SEM and fall into one of these two categories:
- Students who must make up a year to reach the minimum requirement of 12 years of schooling.
- Students who reach the 12 years of schooling but fail to satisfy admission requirements or the entrance test of the bachelor courses of the SEM, and need therefore some further education.
After completion, students acquire 60 Foundation Course Credits (CFCs), computed on the basis of the equivalence 1 CFC= 25 hours of total student commitment = 8 hours of classroom lessons.
The a.y. 2025-26 syllabus provides for 45 CFCs of mandatory activities (Mathematics, Principles of Economics, Principles of Law, Italian Language A1 and A2, English Language B2) and 15 CFCs of elective activities. Study ► Programme structure for a detailed description.
To be admitted at the FC, students must have a certified knowledge of English at least at B1 level. Please, take a look here for more information.
No entrance knowledge of the Italian language is assumed.
The FC will be activated only in case of at least 15 enrolled students.
All educational activities (classes, tutorials, exams) are in presence-only mode.
